Summer at Bellingdale Farm arrives with momentum - long sunlit days, warm evenings, and a landscape thriving with energy. Whether you’re part of the team, a regular guest, or simply following the journey, summer is when the farm truly comes alive: grass grows thick and fast, cattle are content in the paddocks, and the team works toward another year of strong, sustainable growth.
Here’s what summer looks like at Bellingdale and beyond:
Pastures thriving under the summer sun
With a promising season ahead, pasture preparation is underway across both Bellingdale and Summergrove. Rhodes grass is being planted to build rich, productive summer pastures, giving our cattle the nutrient-dense foundation they need through the warmer months.
In our two cell-grazing blocks at Bellingdale, fast-growing millet keeps the rotation strong, and the herd well supported. It’s one of the many small but essential steps that ensure the land continues to give back, year after year.
A strong season for the herd
The bulls are hard at work as we transition toward a more structured Seasonal Breeding program. Bringing calving and weaning into a consistent cycle allows us to better manage the herd, the land, and the long-term vision for our bloodlines.
The last of our 2025 calves are arriving full of life and curiosity, racing through the paddocks as if they’ve been here for months. Summer has a way of fast-tracking their confidence.
The work that keeps the farm moving
Like all seasons, summer brings its own to-do list. Fencing projects continue year-round, strengthening paddocks and setting the property up for long-term success. Machinery maintenance is also in full swing - the behind-the-scenes work that ensures every harvest, planting session, and cattle move runs smoothly.
Recognising excellence
Earlier this year, Bellingdale enjoyed a proud moment at the Murwillumbah Show Commercial Cattle competition, taking first place in one class and second and third in another. It’s recognition of the time, care, and intention we put into raising quality cattle - a reminder that the work happening quietly behind the farm gates is reflected in the excellence of the final product.
Festive highlights
The Santa photos are underway and will continue into summer, offering magical memories against the backdrop of Mount Warning. A perfect way for families to capture the season and connect with the farm’s unique setting.
