Spring at Bellingdale Farm: A Season of Fresh Beginnings

Read Time 2 min

Spring at Bellingdale Farm is a season of colour, energy, and growth. After the stillness of winter, the paddocks burst back to life — dotted with fresh calves, new pastures pushing through the soil, and crisp mornings that melt into golden afternoons. Tucked into the rolling hills of Carool, it’s the kind of spring that feels timeless: birdsong at dawn, wildflowers along the fence lines, and the gentle hum of the land waking up. Spring is a time of growth here — for the land, the animals, and the people who visit.

Here’s how to make the most of spring at Bellingdale and beyond:

Watch the paddocks come alive

Right now, our herd is feeding on a rich winter blend of rye grass, white clover, chicory and plantain — the foundation of strong, healthy cattle. As spring unfolds, we’ll be sowing a Rhodes grass blend across Bellingdale, and possibly at Summergrove too. This planting will see our pastures thick and green through the warmer months, ensuring the land keeps giving back to our animals and visitors alike.

Meet the calves and bulls

There’s no better time to wander the paddocks than in spring, when young calves can be spotted chasing each other under the sun, tails flicking as they bound across the grass. Alongside them, our bulls are preparing for their time in the spotlight, ready to be displayed for sale. Later this year, in October, we’ll begin our Embryo Transfer and Artificial Insemination program — vital steps in ensuring a strong, consistent herd for the seasons ahead.

Stay a little longer

Spring is made for slowing down, and our farm stays offer the perfect chance to soak in the season. Wake to soft mist over the hills, spend the day exploring the farm or nearby trails, and return to a glass of wine under a sky full of stars. It’s a way to reconnect — with nature, with the land, and with yourself.

Visit Equinity – Horse and Rider Emporium

Onsite at Bellingdale, Equinity is our dedicated horse and rider emporium — a thoughtfully curated space for equestrian lovers and anyone drawn to country living. Here you’ll find riding gear, equestrian-inspired homewares, gifts, and unique pieces that capture the elegance of the horse world. It’s a natural extension of the farm, blending lifestyle, leisure, and love for the land.

Spring at Bellingdale Farm is a season of new life, fresh growth and simple pleasures. Whether you’re here to see the calves in the paddocks, explore the farm on a stay, or visit Equinity, there’s no better time to experience the beauty of the land and all it has to offer.
